Radiography & Ultrasound Testing in Port St. Joe, FL.
Recognizing your pet’s pain and discomfort isn’t always easy. Our advanced diagnostic tools and blood tests help us identify diseases, parasites, and other hidden health issues that aren’t visible to the naked eye.
Radiology
Radiographs, commonly known as x-rays, are essential for finding the best treatment plan for your pet. If a lump or abnormality is detected during an annual wellness exam, x-rays can determine its size, shape, and location. They also help veterinarians identify foreign objects in the body, such as non-digestible material in the stomach, and aid in diagnosing gastrointestinal issues, heart and lung diseases, and bladder stones.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound provides a live, detailed look inside your pet’s body, helping diagnose and monitor conditions like cardiac diseases and general biopsies. As a standalone diagnostic tool, it offers a simple and stress-free way to perform organ biopsies. At Port St. Joe Animal Hospital, we use state-of-the-art ultrasound technology in our facilities.
Diagnostic Lab
Although we consider them family members, our furry friends can’t always express their pain, discomfort, or illness. Regular blood tests enable us to detect diseases, parasites, and other hidden health issues.
At Port St Joe Animal Hospital, our fully equipped in-house lab conducts various blood tests, such as glucose levels, chemistry panels, and complete blood counts. We also provide pre-anesthetic blood testing.
For more comprehensive diagnostics, we work with a centralized reference lab to ensure precise and timely results.
Endoscopy
Endoscopy is a minimally invasive diagnostic procedure that allows your veterinarian to inspect the interior surfaces of your pet’s organs using a flexible video camera inserted into specific areas of the body. While anesthesia is needed to sedate your pet for a thorough evaluation, the procedure is generally less invasive than other diagnostic methods and requires minimal recovery time. Endoscopy is often used when blood tests, x-rays, ultrasounds, and urine analyses don’t provide a clear diagnosis.
Video Otoscopy
Similar to endoscopy, video otoscopy is a diagnostic procedure that uses an otoscope to obtain detailed images of your pet’s inner ear.
